Hotel Experiences: Las Verandas, Roatan, Honduras

Las Verandas is a beautiful, luxurious oasis located in Roatan, Honduras and a 20 minute drive from the airport. From the moment I pulled in to the front entrance I knew I was in for a great experience. I stayed here for two nights and was blown away by the aesthetics, the customer service and every thing else in between.

Getting Here:

I arrived at Las Verandas by flying in to Roatan from San Pedro Sula. There is also an option to take the ferry from San Pedro Sula but this is a longer journey so I opted to fly. From the airport I rented a car and drove to the property. You can arrange transportation from the airport directly with the the hotel.

The Grounds:

Las Verandas is pure luxury and you see it from the moment you check in. The infinity pool was one of the best I’ve ever seen. Offering two infinity pools, beautiful villas with beach front views, a pool bar and a restaurant, every where on the grounds is a great photo op. Aside from plenty of places to relax and unwind, Las Verandas hosts a plethora of activities such as fishing, kayaking, snorkeling and zip lining. They serve as a one stop shop in organizing your tours around Roatan. Not to mention there is a golf course adjacent to the property. Lastly, a luxury hotel is not complete without a spa. Las Verandas offers spa services through the La Piña Spa and Wellness Center. It’s located a few minutes from the property and offers a full spa experience. You also have the option to have your spa services done in the privacy of your room or villa.

The Rooms:

The property has multiple options for accommodations. There are two bedroom villas as well as four and even five bedroom villas each having their own plunge pool. There are also hotel rooms that do not have a plunge pool but you still get good views and the two infinity pools are just a few steps away. So there are accommodation types for all sizes and all budgets. Rooms start at around $160 per night and villas start at around $450 per night and they sleep up to five people depending on the size chosen..

I was lucky enough to stay on the lower level of a two bedroom villa. It was sparkling clean, had a king size bed, plenty of closet space, a television, and a huge bathroom with double sinks. The shower and toilet were separate which is always good because no one is in anyones way. The infinity plunge pool was about 4 feet deep and had unobstructed views of the beach. You can view my full room tour on Instagram here.

The Food:

The variety of food options are endless in Las Verandas. The pool bar has great drinks (I loved the daiquiris), and a lot of food options. The fish tacos were my favorite here. The main restaurant serves breakfast and dinner which also didn’t disappoint. For breakfast I had the most fluffiest pancakes and another day I had a traditional Honduran breakfast that was right on the money. For dinner I came across the coconut fish filet with rice and veggies. As someone who isn’t the biggest fan seafood, I was a bit hesitant to try this. It turned out to be one of the best dishes I had during my entire trip. There was something about the coconut sauce that I couldn’t get enough of. I would definitely recommend trying this dish for dinner.

All in all, my stay at Las Verandas was definitely one to remember. As someone who feels at peace near the water, this hotel gave me exactly what I needed during my stay in Roatan. Because the property is so large, I felt like I had the place to myself. On top of the fact that the staff treating you like a person as opposed to just another number, I would definitely recommend Las Verandas for a flawless hotel experience.
